What is happening on the "Danger Danger" side? Since the excellent "Revolve" (which dates back to 2009) and apart from a few concerts, the news is desperately calm. While fans are increasingly wondering if the band is still alive, the arrival of The Defiants does nothing to alleviate these fears. Indeed, the band is composed of almost all the members of "Danger Danger" of the last few years, with the only exception being the return of Paul Laine to the microphone, the latter replacing Ted Poley who will also publish a solo effort very soon...

Whatever the motivations, the repeated listening to this first album will bring everyone to an agreement: the musicians sign a record worthy of the best they have ever done in the past. After a short introduction,'Love And Bullets' attacks is the first strong moment of a record that doesn't lack any. Production larger than life featuring the amazing guitarist Rob Marcello, varied rhythms, and above all this science of the chorus that kills are on the program. 'When The Lights Go Down' develops a Whitesnake riff period "1987", even if the choirs and others "na-na-na-na-na" of its chorus will inevitably remind you "Danger Danger". It would be possible to describe all the titles in this way because they all deserve their place here, even if with songs that often exceed five minutes, a slight feeling of weariness can appear at the end. 'That's When I'll Stop Loving You', although very pleasant, is notably long with 6'53 minutes.

But here is the only objection that can be made on this eponymous record, as the band masters its subject to perfection. From the melancholic "Waiting On A Heartbreak" to the powerful "Take Me Back" to "Runaway" or "Last Kiss" (Def Leppard is not very far away on the latter), it is impossible to resist if you are fond of the style. Paul Laine is vocally at the top (is it worth mentioning?) and does not seem to feel the weight of the years. Of course, lyrics can sometimes make you smile, but that has honestly never been the primary interest of the genre.

In the hard FM category, it will be very difficult to surpass The Defiants this year. All you have to do now is go ahead and get this little nugget. Indispensable!
