"Motionless In White delivers with "Disguise" a good FM metalcore record, successfully alternating the powerful sections brought by throat vocals and the melodic choruses."
DARIALYS - 14.06.2019 -
Motionless In White has become a major player on the American metalcore scene. Author of a first album in 2010, the Pennsylvania quintet released their fifth work with "Disguise".

During the eleven tracks composing the disc, it is a two-faced formation that the listener has the opportunity to discover. The first half of the album is clearly the one that is most influenced by the classic metalcore sound. Generally speaking, the Americans seem to have found their recipe, with very brutal verses accompanied by impeccable throat vocals and melodic mainstream and carrier choruses.

In this vein, for example, stands out 'Undead Ahead 2: The Tale Of The Midnight Ride', certainly the most aggressive track on the album. With a theme with Gothic sounds carried by epic violins reminiscent of Cradle Of Filth, the band seems to have found the right balance between the power dear to the style and a radiophonic side.

There are also KoRn influences on the eponymous track and the no less successful 'Headache' with its riff close to 'Let's Do This Now'. You can also feel the paw of Linkin Park from the Meteora era, especially on the song 'c0de', where the resemblance to 'Numb' is very striking, and it is all the more amusing when you notice that the tenth song is precisely called...'The New Numb' !

The second half of the album clearly shows a stylistic shift. No more metalcore, it's more of a rock/metal radio that takes over. 'Catharsis' and 'Holding On To Smoke' are revealing of this second part, with more mawkish and mainstream sounds, and therefore more sweetened. Motionless In White is also experimenting with electro sounds on "Broadcasting From Beyond The Grave: Death Inc", to completely forget its original style, for a result that will certainly not be unanimously accepted.

"Disguise" is therefore divided between a first mainstream metalcore half well brought in and a second half less original and more sweetened. There is no doubt that all these songs will nevertheless highlight their full potential on stage!
