"We have here the must of the neo-prog of the early 90s"
PETE_T - 02.10.2009 -
After the encouraging Hologram which was still a little wasted by a "light" production, Clepsydra took 3 years to release 'More Grains Of Sand' with the same line up. Sometimes there is a work that marks time, its authors and listeners. Marillion has his "Misplaced childhood" and "Brave", Eloy "Ocean" Arena "Visitor"... For Clepsydra, time stopped with 'More Grain Of Sand', a fabulous concept album where nuggets of all kinds excel.

First of all, production has made a leap forward. No more diverted keyboards and atrophied guitars. What was a weak point on the first opus has been erased. And what a progress for Aluisio, Hologram's borderline voice is forgotten. Of course, there is still work to be done, but it now transports you instead of leaving you on the edge. Lele uses his pedals much better. The synths are finally released, volatile or heavy to lay very appropriate layers. The rhythmic accompanies all this little world in a very clean way (ah!!! This snoring bass!!!).

All the elements are therefore gathered to deliver a monument as long as the composers follow... And they follow. The sequence 'Hold me tight/No place for flowers/The outermost bounds' will remain one of their major inspiration and the band will not do better in the future. Nick Barret's (Pendragon's soul) participation in Moonshine on heights is written proof that the small Swiss band heckled the neo-prog mode with their first attempt.

'More Grain Of Sand' is therefore a concept album where all the tracks follow each other for 60 minutes. In addition to the tracks mentioned above, it is also necessary to highlight 'The prisoners victory', a hit in the neo-Prog style. Tears will come out of your eyes with 'The Last Grain' and its final guitar soli.... The drug has taken effect, so withdrawal will only be more difficult.

Clepsydra has the habit to write "You can always turn the hour glass again". I understood "You can always let the CD in the player", that's what I did 15 years ago. I don't hide from you that, during all this chronicle, I also let the record turn in my turntable... My album of the 90s (with Brave from whom you know)
